Marty and the Well were formed out of a need to express feelings through music. Marty, the lead singer, worked many years in the corporate world, where it was difficult to express his emotions and deal with the problems that life threw at him. With music always being a safe place to deal with issues, the soon-to-be band took a leap of faith into writing their first album.

As almost a tool for therapy, Marty and the production team quickly started to write songs about the tough times Marty had to overcome in his life, past and present. With no short-term plan to release an album or music, new songs were being written every day. Before the end of 2013, songs started to take form and enough songs to fill a debut album.
